Doing laundry is one of those chores that seems to be never ending. Clothes are washed, dried, folded, ironed, put in drawers or on hangers and as I walk by the laundry basket .. once again, dirty laundry. Regardless it has to be done and if you’re like me you want your family to be wearing white, bright clothes that smell fresh and have no chemical residue. The experience of doing laundry is not something we all look forward to but I will say that having an organized laundry room with products to treat, clean, and condition linens sure does make things easier!
Today I’m teaming up with The Laundress to share a few of my favorite products and cleaning tips!
Taking short cuts when laundering or using harsh cleaners on your linens can shorten their life span and make your towels, sheets, sweaters, tops, and denim look dull and lifeless. For cottons I use Signature Detergent and Fabric Conditioner. Whites are washed on the warmest setting the fabric will tolerate and I pre-treat stains with Stain Solution and All-Purpose Bleach Alternative as needed.
Set your washer to the hand-wash selection for lingerie. I use Delicate Wash ,cold water and lay flat to dry. Mesh Bags are also great to have on hand to protect delicates that are washed with other laundry.
Most of us take our cashmere sweaters and wool pieces to our local cleaners for laundering. This process is often expensive and sometimes chemicals are used during the cleaning process that aren’t healthy. For this reason I launder all my winter beanies, mitts and sweaters with Wool & Cashmere Shampoo. These pieces go on hand-wash/cold and then I lay them flat to dry in their natural shape. Steam to smooth sweaters and use a Sweater Comb to de-pill delicate knits, cashmere, and fine woolens. Between washing spritz with Wool & Cashmere Spray to keep your garments fresh.
If you aren’t familiar with The Laundress products and would like to try a few samples, I suggest ordering this Starter Kit!
